Job Overview

Hathway is seeking a Senior Product Manager I responsible to lead the vision and planning of digital initiatives while directing and executing the definition and deployment of our digital applications (e.g., websites and/or mobile applications supporting online ordering and/or rewards programs) that, among other things, may assist consumers in ordering products online from our clients. The Senior Product Manager I will provide expert knowledge to inform their product strategic direction while guiding clients through an insightful approach to their challenges, seen and unseen, and managing the collaborative effort with cross-functional teams. 
This Senior Product Manager I is the principal source of thought leadership, scope definition, and execution of delivery, or the management of support Product Managers to execute on the product strategy, for assigned client engagements. The Senior Product Manager I reports directly to the Senior Product Manager II.
Hathway’s growing product management team is responsible for the overall product definition, planning, forecasting and execution of our restaurant and c-store brands that focus on an exceptional experience for online ordering and loyalty. Your day to day activities will include meeting with your brand and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment across objectives and roadmap, leading sprint planning activities to ensure we are meeting expectations, creating or overseeing requirements definition, joining daily team meetings to help track progress towards releases, working with our engineers to ensure development scope is well understood and executed, monitoring live products and providing support in presentations to our clients based on key insights.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mentorship and career development for direct reports (up to 3) while maintaining company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and high performance.
  • Manage assigned brands resourcing requests and needs for assigned accounts and maintain employee work schedules
  • Plan staffing levels and lead recruiting, hiring and onboarding efforts for new direct report team members working closing with our talent management team and with key team members of the company to assess fit and gather buy-in on new hires
  • Establish and define a digital vision for the brands you lead by building consensus on business objectives and key performance objectives
  • Lead efforts to build product roadmaps to realize business goals and strategies informed by the digital vision and business objectives, while working with cross-functional teams to identify dependencies
  • Provide prioritization framework and strategy to assess roadmap initiatives and score features on the roadmap, while gaining consensus with business stakeholders
  • Guide the release planning process, gaining stakeholder buy-in and alignment
  • Identify cross-product opportunities and efficiencies, working closely with product leadership teams
  • Identify user research opportunities and help guide the teams toward execution, while helping to show value in these efforts to your business stakeholders
  • Perform market and competitive research to identify features, functionality, workflows and patterns actively being leveraged in digital experiences within or adjacent to the client’s domain
  • Report on findings of competitive research by summarizing key findings and trends, using statistics and data wherever possible, capturing practices into documentation that can be consumed by stakeholders unfamiliar with the market to help provide a baseline understanding of competitive activity 
  • Give creative recommendations and insights into future enhancements and initiatives on the roadmap, assessing market trends and opportunities
  • Provide a meaningful tracking strategy, reporting and insights for defined goals and key performance indicators back in data
  • Work with Data & Insights specialists to ensure that goals and key performance indicators of assigned client brands are being captured with appropriate fidelity
  • Guide the process to gather data from analytics repositories such that progress against client goals and KPIs can be reported on, both on a routine and ad-hoc basis
  • Lead feature brief process to help define business and product requirements and helping to flush out the direction for roadmap features
  • Provide direction on requirement prioritization for grooming and sprint planning
  • Collaborate with creative, engineering and project teams to reach the best possible version of a feature or product to bring to market
  • Gather, validate and document (or work with supporting product role) the functional and non-functional requirements of the digital products we build for clients, producing user stories, acceptance criteria, user flows, data flows and annotations to support Hathway’s engineers with the clarity needed to execute new development items 
  • Attend all key sprint and backlog planning and grooming cadences, actively taking notes and capturing follow-up items (or work with supporting product role)
  • Take the “Definition of Done” personally when writing acceptance criteria; accountability here is critical to the success of the role, and the Associate Product Manager must be deeply passionate about writing exhaustive, thoughtful, multi-perspective and multi-scenario acceptance criteria that help bridge gaps in understanding between what clients expect to receive and what internal Hathway engineers must accomplish to satisfy that expectation
  • Ensure that all backlog items, including development items, research tasks and defects, include detailed descriptions of “Definition of Done”
  • Work with Design and UX teams to ensure successful delivery of supporting assets
  • Identify and attend problem-solving meetings with internal team members (including product managers, engineers and solution architects) as well as external partners, capturing notes and action items (or work with supporting product role) that must be performed by the product management team in order to follow through and overcome challenges stemming from new systems integrations and new product deployments
  • Ensure appropriate resources are engaged on sprint work
  • Engage in day-to-day activities ensuring successful product deployments 
  • Create release checklists adhering to release processes and policies
  • Participate in user acceptance testing and perform smoke testing as needed to ensure releases and release candidates meet functional expectations, rapidly logging any defects along with detailed steps to reproduce  Provide product sign-off on all releases, with an eye towards quality and ensuring client expectations and business requirements will be met
  • Lead all internal and external release communication focusing on release notes and the business value that each update provides your product, showing progress towards the digital strategy
  • Become a valued, strategic partner to your brand stakeholders
  • Partner with the Client Services team to identify account growth opportunities and support sales initiatives
  • Partner with Client Services team to plan and lead quarterly strategic planning business presentations
  • Help manage client communication, working closely with the Client Services and Project Management teams to ensure client satisfaction

Requirements

  • Proven track record of leading and delivering digital products and services
  • Demonstrates expertise in product’s role and responsibilities in various product lifecycle management
  • Ability to quickly understand, simplify, internalize and communicate complex or technical concepts and integrations
  • Strong analytical problem solving and decision making skills
  • Experience with waterfall and agile methodologies. Certifications are a plus
  • Experience with both native application and web platforms
  • Strong oral communication skills; must enjoy people
  • Strong written communication skills; must enjoy writing and storytelling
  • Agency experience is a plus
  • Restaurant, C-Store, or general ecommerce experience is a plus
  • Experience in people management is a plus
  • Some travel is required
  • BA/BS degree in Business, Communications, Computer Science or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in Consulting, Strategy, Product Management, UX Design, Project Management or Software Development, preferably in a digital marketing or agency capacity

  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 25 lbs., perceive depth and operate a motor vehicle.
  • Conditions may include working inside and/or outside.  May work around machines with moving parts and moving objects.  Working near radiant and electrical energy.  Working closely with others or working alone.  Working extended or irregular hours and travelling by all possible modes of transportation.
