Mixing family business with pleasure and bringing it all into focus

It’s one the most recognizable names in the entertainment industry. But there’s much more to this family business than most people realize. Reaching beyond the world of cinema and into wine, food, travel and more, the Family Coppola is also in the business of pleasure. And they were in need of a comprehensive digital strategy to serve their multifaceted repertoire.

The Strategy

The Family Coppola had no problem diversifying their businesses yet they were struggling with communicating those ventures in a cohesive way. The Family Coppola website was actually a collection of 12 different sites and visitors to the homepage often found themselves clicking their way off site without a clear pathway to return. Navigation was extremely clunky and a poor user experience would often lead to a lost customer.

Hathway conducted a thorough audit of The Family Coppola’s digital ecosystem and determined that we would take a multi-phased approach, beginning with transforming the e-commerce experience of their popular wine shop.

The Results

Our strategy and design teams worked closely with the Family Coppola on a makeover of the winery’s ecommerce site. The result was a beautiful, elegant website considered to be one of the most “shoppable” wine retail sites in the industry. The successful launch timed perfectly to coincide with the busy holiday shopping season. Coming in on time and under budget, the Family Coppola was able to use the remaining funds on a cross-promotion landing page with the Food Network.
